Landscape Materials - A recent project in review

No landscape project is too small for the EcoDesignSD team. The evidence is reflected in the  images below.

A waterwise landscape in San Diego does not have to consist of just hardscape or a pile of monochromatic crushed rocks: at EcoDesignSD we are not afraid of mixing materials.

Below are some images of a custom backyard design we completed in the fall of 2024. We incorporated 4 different hardscape and ground cover materials in this small 700 sqft yard. The combination of Belgard pavers, artificial turf, pea gravel, and river rock define the separate areas in the landscape and create contrast and movement throughout the yard.

Above is great showcase of how we defined the path of travel by installing contrasting materials to frame this gravel walkway. On one side of the path a cluster of medium sized river rocks form a small drought tolerant planting area; and framing the opposite side of the gravel path is a patch of turf for a doggy relief area.

Four separate spaces were created in this small back yard by utilizing various landscape materials.

Off the main living room we installed a paver patio that is the perfect size for a firepit accompanied with cozy seating to entertain guests and soak in the canyon views.

A decent sized play area made of synthetic grass separates the main patio from the spa oasis corner.

On the side yard we incorporate a waterwise rock garden consisting of a combination of native plants, stucculents, and a raised Vego garden bed for seasonal herbs and veggies.

If you are looking for a San Diego landscape contractor the EcoDesignSD is here to help you transform your backyard to a multifunctional space. The before and after photos speak for themselves!
